Running for God’s Biggest Loser

Posted on

I turned on the morning radio show and heard the voice of Gina from season 14 of The Biggest Loser.  She was the “at home winner” that season.  Do you watch it?

I always love the first show when you hear all their back stories.  And I really love the finale when you see everyone in their “after glory” standing next to their “before” images.  I’m always inspired to be The Biggest Loser.

What are you waiting for? Take the first step and transform your life today.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to lose the weight and compete to win big $$$$.

But watching each episode and the grueling workouts they go through? Um, no thanks.

Gina talked about her physical transformation of course, but she also spoke about her changes spiritually and mentally.  She had opened her heart to God, and forgiven herself for her past mistakes.  And God showed her his plan for her.

Maybe God was inspiring me today to audition for the Biggest Loser?  He knows my weight is an issue I struggle with, but not 80 lbs. worth (yet).  Well, maybe with my fears, insecurities, worries, and guilt added on it would be.

But the fear of revealing my back story (not to mention my back side) on national TV was enough to scare this girl away.

Run to lose weight? No thanks.

Run to hide? Yes please.

What if this Biggest Loser call was God’s casting call I was hearing instead?

Cast all your anxiety on him because He cares for you.
(1 Peter 5:7)

Stop hiding and start seeking.

God is saying “what are you waiting for?… Take the first step and transform your life today… Are you finally ready to change your life?… This is a once in a lifetime opportunity”….But its not a weight-loss program.  It’s not a competition.  It’s not to win big $$$$.

Our relationship with God is our “once in a lifetime” opportunity, because this journey will be the most important one ever.  Let’s run to God. To lose our fears to God is to gain the strength to truly be the “at home winner” He wants us to be.

Now that’s the Biggest Loser I want to audition for.  Care to join me?

  1. Love the comparison you did here! We may see other opportunities “once in a lifetime ones” so great, but there is an opportunity way much better and satisfying: our relationship with our creator: God! His Son: Jesus and our help every time: the Holy Spirit. Thanks for sharing!

  2. I want to be that kind of loser as well… to lose my fears to God as I run daily to Him. I’ve been known to run to other things, working my plan and not seeking God first. His plan is always better. When I’ve sought him first, everything else falls into place, and fears disappear. Great post, my friend. Your writing continues to encourage and bless me. Much love to you today!

    • Thanks so much, Julie, you are a great encouragement to me to run TO HIM instead!

  3. I’ll run for that Biggest Loser as well, Kim… sign me up! Love this! Prayers as you continue to walk through this journey. #livefree

  4. I’m in! (And I agree with you, not quite ready to expose my flaws on television.) But God knows all our flaws and imperfections, yet He loves and adores us anyway:) Awesome word, Kim!

  5. Wow. You hit it on the head (or the “behind”) AGAIN for me, Kim. His Spirit is palpable thru your writing… Thank you for sharing and prompting! Ready “to do lunch” again soon?

    • Pamela, yes! It’s been a busy end of school year. I’ll be close by your work a few weeks over the summer so I’ll schedule to meet you again!

  6. Thank you so much! Thanks for the quote! Our relationship with God is our “once in a lifetime” opportunity, because this journey will be the most important one ever. Let’s run to God. To lose our fears to God is to gain the strength to truly be the “at home winner” He wants us to be. –
